The RSGB has a wealth of information on its Propagation Pages  rsgb.org

These are maintained by the RSGB Propagation Studies Committee and contain a lot of useful information including links to the brilliant Propagation Prediction Tools mentioned in this episode.

Mike Devereux G3SED

Mike is of course the MD of Nevada Radio, but he also has his own home on the web which tells you about his on-air activity when he is enjoying the hobby as an operator, rather than as a retailer!  It contains some fascinating photos relating to some of the things we talked about in the interview including the Camel Trophy and the  DX-Expeditions he has been involved with. g3sed.com

VMARS

If you fancy owning, operating or even restoring some vintage radio gear then you should join the Vintage and Military Amateur Radio Society. It was set up in 1999 with key aims:

• Encourage the conservation, restoration and use of ‘classic’ electronic equipment, with a principal focus on wireless techniques, whether applied to communications, RADAR or other pulsed signalling systems - but not neglecting line communication, audio recording, mine detecting and so on.
• Encourage recording of electronics related history.
• Preserve the knowledge and skills needed for;
• The use of traditional modes of communications, such as analogue AM, analogue FM, and Morse Code by radio amateurs.
• The use of traditional types of component, such as valves, vibrators, leaded components.
• The maintenance and restoration of earlier styles of construction.
• Provide assistance to museums and similar bodies wherever possible
• To educate and inform the general public about our wireless history.

There are daily informal AM Nets on 80 metres and a more formal net every Saturday morning. There are also regular auctions for members which are a great place to acquire some classic kit! Find out more at vmars.org.uk
